ALL THE PRETTY
LITTLE HORSES
by
Donald E. Olah

This piece is based on a
traditional Appalachian Lullaby with the following lyrics:
Hush-you-bye don't you cry,
Go to sleepy, little baby.
In your dreams you shall ride
All the pretty little horsies.
Blacks and bays, dapples and greys,
Coach and six a-little horsies.
Hush-a-bye don’t you cry,
Lay your head upon the clover.
When you wake you shall ride,
Whilst your mother watches over.
Composer Donald E. Olah grew up in Westmoreland
County, Pennsylvania, attended West Virginia Wesleyan College and Virginia
Commonwealth University, and is
presently a middle school orchestra director and string teacher in the Spotsylvania County,VA Public Schools.
