In the German folk traditions of Christmas, Knecht Ruprecht was the evil
side-kick of St. Nicholas; children who had misbehaved were in danger of being
kidnapped by this sinister fellow and dumped in the river.
Arranger Art Sheinberg has taught orchestra in the
Albuquerque Public Schools for over two decades. He performed on cello and double bass for fifteen years with the
New Mexico Symphony Orchestra. Art is a
founding member of Music Antigua de Albuquerque, in which he plays a variety of
medieval and renaissance instruments.
He was named New Mexico Music Educator of the Year in 1992. Art holds degrees in Music Education and
Double Bass Performance from the University of New Mexico.
